Born and raised in Los Angeles, JJ graduated in 2014 as the University of Southern California's first-ever double major in Popular Music and Business, earning the title of Renaissance Scholar with Distinction and induction into the Order of Troy.
An entrepreneur-at-head, musician-at-heart, at the age of 23 he has founded and sold three companies in fields as diverse as SAT/ACT Prep and Social Media Management, was a guest speaker in USC's entrepreneurship program (twice while still an undergraduate), and has been featured on nationally syndicated radio programs like "Business Rockstars." As a musician, Bassette's work has been featured in 7 international film festivals, including the Sundance Film Festival, and he has been privately mentored by Randy Newman. Concurrently, Bassette spent his college years immersing himself in the US Music Industry, with positions at Capitol Records, William Morris Endeavor, and Sony/ATV Music Publishing.
Upon graduation, Bassette followed a dream of fluency in both Mandarin and the burgeoning East Asian entertainment market by moving to Shanghai, where he has been residing since late 2015 and currently works as a bilingual songwriter, performer, and in-house composer for Take 1 studio.
